Round Island Media introduces immersive media consulting to its services. This is an exciting time for our company to contribute to this revolutionary technological advancement. In the next 5 years, the world will become a digitally enabled mesh of people, things and services. Technology is already enabling us to interact daily on a more efficient level. In the digital business of the future, ordinary people will experience a digitally-enabled world where the lines between what is real and what is digital will blur. This is where we step in. Using our immersive media consulting services, we can bring you virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) to transform the way your customers interact with your brand. We can help you design and create an immersive environment for your business.
Mixed reality (MR), sometimes referred to as hybrid reality, is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. Mixed reality takes place not only in the physical world or the virtual world, but is a mix of reality and virtual reality, encompassing both augmented reality and augmented virtuality.
A topic of much research, MR has found its way into a number of applications, evident in the arts and entertainment industries. However, MR is also branching out into the business, manufacturing and education worlds.
In order to understand mixed reality, 4 concepts need to be fully understood:
Virtual Reality: This is everything that is not real. Video games, computer generated environments. VR enables you to experience a wold that does not exist in a physical world.
Augmented Virtuality: is adding real life information into the virtual world (graphics enhanced by reality, graphics enhanced by video, etc.). For example adding your face to a computer generated body via web cam.
Augmented Reality: - is adding virtual objects to real world. Yelp's Monocle is a good example of AR.
Mixed Reality: is a mix of virtuality and reality. More specifically it is a mix of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. We can use Microsoft HoloLens as a perfect example of mixed reality. With HoloLens you can navigate through real world with a use of virtual objects and real life notions such as 'length', 'height' and 'depth' used on the virtual objects for better experience.
Round Island Media, Immersive Consulting Services can help you create new experiences for your clients or enhance existing products and solutions. Leveraging the “wow” factor of Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed reality, we can also provide new marketing concepts to help attract and retain your customers, ultimately resulting in increased revenue.
